WARNING: 100+ fake or unauthorized online universities operate in India. Always verify before paying fees. This guide shows you how.
Step 1 — Check UGC-DEB Website
Visit ugcdeb.gov.in and search for your university name. Only universities listed here are authorized to offer online/ODL programs. If not found — DO NOT ENROLL.
Step 2 — Verify NAAC Accreditation
Visit naac.gov.in → "Accreditation Status" → Search university. Check: (1) Accreditation valid (not expired), (2) Grade is A, A+, or A++, (3) Name matches exactly.
Step 3 — Check UGC University List
Visit ugc.gov.in/University → Search university. Valid universities will show "University Type" (State/Central/Deemed/Private). If not listed — fake university.
